Does this sound like a man with nothing to hide? Ex-trojan Reggie Bush says that when the NCAA calls, he won't pick up the phone.
Why not? Doesn't that statement in itself imply guilt? He's already gone from the college ranks, so why is he still afraid of the NCAA? If he and his family did nothing wrong, as he repeats over and over like a mantra, then why not meet with the NCAA and get everything cleared up?
Why not? How about: Because he's guilty? It sounds like he knew something all along about the San Diego estate that was basically GIVEN to his parents, and that's why he won't subject himself to grilling by NCAA enforcers.
So if they haven't called him yet, why is this in the news right now? Because Reggie, who was basically BANNED from the 2007 Rose Bowl, resurfaced this week, at a suc practice. This seems to violate an NCAA request for sc to distance themselves from the embattled Running Back. It was the NCAA who told sc not to allow Bush on their sidelines during the Rose Bowl, because they didn't want sc to look like they were condoning the potentially illegal activities in which Bush was involved.
So what changed? Why was he persona non grata at the Rose Bowl, but now he's roaming the field at sc, shaking hands with all the players and staff? Is it because the Rose Bowl is seen by more people? Should it really be a numbers game? If Bush is identified by the L.A. Times at a practice, it still looks like troy condones any and all of Bush's potentially damaging-to-sc behavior.
With any luck, the FBI will pull rank on the NCAA, and serve subpoenas on the entire Bush family, Assistant Coach-in-the-know Todd McNair, and all of Bush's criminal acquaintances posing as Agents. Then Bush will HAVE to answer the phone.
Of course, he could follow the lead of another infamous cheating trojan, and pull a Mark McGwire. Big Mac told Congress that he didn't want to discuss the Past. You think that will fly with the FBI?
After the FBI is through with them, only then should the NCAA swoop in and feast on the rotting corpses. It will be easy at that point to strip sc of all their wins. Then, the Heisman people can come in and deliver the ultimate blow: Repo-ing Reggie's statue.
