It's pretty common for people to flee when O.J. is approaching, but usually, trojans stick together, and, this is the OTHER O.J., so what's going on?
First Nick Young decided to leave suc early, despite the fact that prized recruit O.J. Mayo is incoming next year. Then, even after expressing excitement about playing with Mayo for the National Title, Gabe Pruitt is bailing too.
There couldn't possible be a competent advisor out there who told Pruitt that this is a wise decision. After all, Pruitt would get lots of wide open looks with Mayo receiving all the Defensive attention this coming year. With the increased scoring, and more importantly, increased exposure, not to mention a deep run in the Tournament, Pruitt would have been a much hotter commodity next year.
So assuming that he's not a complete and total idiot who's hellbent on playing in Europe, there must be another reason for his early defection. Could it be that Pruitt knows something that the World of self-proclaimed Insiders/Internet Recruiting Gurus doesn't? Could it be that the troubled Mayo ISN'T REALLY COMING TO SC??
That would explain why Young left so quickly, and why Pruitt left so early, despite limited horizons. What a letdown it would be for the 17 people that bought Season Tickets to the Galen Center for next year. Talk about getting stuck with worthless tickets. The place would be cavernously empty, and Taj Gibson would have an emotional breakdown, before transferring.
Pruitt was a good enough College player that we're extremely happy to see him go, but not good enough to earn Jordan Farmar minutes in The League any time soon. So, as an excuse to celebrate... Here are 5 more shots from the Treasure Chest that was created on Tuesday at the First to 100 Celebration.
